Prof. Lluis F. Marsal is Distinguished Professor at the University Rovira i Virgili since 2017. He received the Ph.D. degree in physics from the University Politecnica de Cataluña, Spain in 1997. Since 2009, he is full professor at the University Rovira i Virgili, Spain. Between 1998 and 1999, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada.
He has more than 30 years' experience in research and teaching in optoelectronics, photonics and nanotechnology. In the last 18 years, he has successfully created and led NEPHOS, an interdisciplinary research group in nanotechnology, photonic devices based on silicon and micro-nanoporous materials and organi and hybrid materials for biotechnological applications. He has supervised 10 MEng students and 20 Ph.D. students and participated in several Ph.D. committees at other universities. He is currently supervising 2 PhD students, 2 Master students and has organized 6 courses of the URV Summer School on nanophotonics and nanotechnology
He has carried out research in the field of organic solar cells, and nanoporous materials for photonic and optical sensor applications. He has obtained remarkable results in the technological field of structural engineering of macro- and nanoporous silicon and nanoporous alumina, creating new organic and hybrid nanostructures to enhance light-matter interactions for optoelectronic devices and energy applications. He has co-authored more than 270 publications in international refereed journals and conferences (Scopus), 2 books, 5 book chapters and holds three patents. He has presented over 30 invited lectures in international conferences and has participated in over than 80 national and international projects. According to Google Scholar Citations is cited more than 8118 times, h-index =50 and i10-index= 183.
In 2008, he is awarded with one Research Grant from the URV for the research intensification and in 2009, obtained a Grant for Consolidated Research Groups from the Research Management Agency. In 2012, he received a research award in recognition for the high quality of the scientific career of outstanding researchers from the URV. Since 2007, he is a visiting research fellow at the CINVESTAV - Instituto Politécnico Nacional, Mexico. Prof. Marsal was the organizer and General Chairman of the 1st Spanish Nanophotonics Conference in 2008. He is a recipient of the 2014 UniSA Distinguished Researcher Award from the University of South Australia (UniSA) and the ICREA Academia Award 2014 and 2021. Prof. Marsal serves as member of the Distinguished Lecturer program of the Electron Devices Society (EDS-IEEE) since 2008 and as a member of Advisory or Technical Committees in several international and national conferences (ECS, PSST, ICOOPMA). He is senior member of the IEEE (Electron Devices Society and Photonics Society) and Fellow of the OPTICA (formerly Optical Society of America). He is also an active member of the Electrochemical Society (ECS). Chair of Spain Chapter of the IEEE Electron Devices Society (2013-2019 and 2023-present). He was the Chair of the Subcommittee for Regions/Chapters (SRC) - Regions 8, Electron Devices Society - Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (2019-2022). Since 2023, he is a EDS BoG Members-at-Large. He is also co-Founder of the Spin-Off Company MATCH BioSystems SL.

Curriculum Vitae
I was born in El Perelló in 1967. I have been General Director for Universities and General Director for University Planning and Research for the autonomous government of Catalonia (2016-19). At the URV I have been Vice-Rector for Academic Policy and Teaching and Research Staff (2014-16), Vice-Rector for Teaching and Research Staff (2008-14), Vice-Rector for Transfer and Innovation (2006-08), and Head of the Department of Electronic, Electrical and Automatic Engineering (2000-06).
I began my academic career as a physics student at the University of Barcelona. In 1997 I defended my doctoral thesis in the Department of Electronic Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) before conducting a one-year postdoctoral stay at Debye Institute of Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
In October 1991 I joined the URV, where I have been a temporary university school senior lecturer, a university school senior lecturer, and a senior lecturer. Since 2009 I have been a full professor of Electronic Technology. I have taught mainly compulsory subjects of the Bachelor's Degree and optional subjects of the Master's Degree in the School of Engineering. I have also directed or co-directed 10 doctoral theses, all of which have included the International Doctorate mention. I have been named a distinguished professor of the URV.
I am a member of the Nanoelectronics and Photonic Systems research group, the author of over a hundred publications in indexed international journals (h = 40), and the co-author of two patents. I have been the principal researcher on projects for the European Union, Consolider and the Spanish National Plan. My experience lies in semiconductor and photonic devices, while my current line of research involves the manufacture, characterization and modelling of solar cells with organic and polymeric materials. I am a senior member of the Electron Device Society (EDS) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).

Josep Ferré-Borrull obtained his Physics degree in 1994, his B. Sc. in 1996 and his Ph.D in 1998, all of them at the Universitat de Barcelona. His doctoral thesis was in the field of Optical Image Processing for applications in Fourier Optics-based Optical Pattern Recognition. His postdoctoral experience was focused on the characterization of nanoroughness of surfaces in high-quality optical components in the Fraunhofer Institute in Jena, Germany and in the ENEA in Rome, Italy. The main applications of such optical components were to the 5-nm lithography systems that work in the EUV range in the microelectronic industry. Since he joined the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in 2004 he has been involved in research on the framework of the activities of the Nano-electronic and Photonics group lead by Prof. Lluis Marsal: development of technologies for the fabrication of nanoporous materials and their applications to energy, health and environment, and especially in the numerical modeling of the interaction of light with such materials and devices. He is currently the coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Technologies for Nanosystems, Bioengineering and Energy of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and develops its teaching activities in Physics and Electromagnetism. He has been supervisor of 10 Doctoral Thesis, 4 of them in the last 5 years. He is author of 170 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals, 67 of them in the Q1 of their corresponding JCR category. The publications have obtained 2677 Citations and have reached an h-index of 30. He has been Principal Investigator in the project with title "Estructuras micro y nanoporosas para dispositivos sensores y células solares poliméricas" with reference RTI2018-094040-B-I00 funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades with 110.110 Euro. He has also been member of the research team in two other projects funded by the Spanish Science Ministry and in one COST Action (CA20126, "Network for research, innovation and product development on porous semiconductors and oxides", NETPORE).
Elisabet Xifré
Elisabet Xifre-Perez received her B.S. degree in Telecommunications Engineering and M.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from the University Ramon Llull (Barcelona) and her Ph.D. (Hons.) degree in Electronics Engineering from the University Rovira i Virgili. She was a postdoctoral researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and at The Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (ICFO) and doctoral researcher at the Ecole Polytechnique (France). She is currently associate professor at the Department of Electronic, Electric and Automatic Engineering of the University Rovira i Virgili. Her research work focuses on micro and nanoporous materials for biomedical, optoelectronic devices and sensing.

Dr. Pilar Formentín received her Bachelor degree in chemistry from Universitat de València (1997), and her Master's and PhD degrees in chemistry from the Instituto de Tecnología Química, UPV-CSIC (2002). She continued her scientific career as Post-Doc Marie Curie Fellowship (2002-2004) in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London. In 2005, she joined the Universitat de València as Juan de la Cierva Research Fellow (Ministry of Science). Since 2006 Dr. Formentín is Research Support in the Department of Electronic, Electrical and Automatic Engineering of the Rovira i Virgili University of Tarragona. From the start of her research career, she has published more than 50 articles in international journals (1221 citations (h-index=20) according to the Scopus Citations). Two cover pictures in physica status solidi (a), applications and materials science, Vol. 204, (10), October 2007 and Vol. 205, (10), October 2008. With 10+ years of hands-on work experience in the field of macro-and nano porous structures based on silicon and alumina, she has gained a background in fabrication and functionalization techniques, characterization and measurements, as well as the use of macro-and nanoporous silicon and nanoporous anodic alumina in biosensing devices, drug delivery and cell cultures.

Dr. Tara Chand Yadav received his Bachelor degree in Pharmacy from Uttar Pradesh Technical University (2012), and his Master's and PhD degrees in Bioinformatics from the Indian Institute of Information Technology-Allahabad, India (2014). He completed his PhD from the Department of Biosciences & Bioengineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India (2021). His thesis involves synthesizing, characterizing, and formulating colloidal drug delivery systems using the nanomedicine approach for biomedical applications. To date, he has (co)authored 10 invited book chapters and 15 SCI journal papers. His current research focuses on improving the drug-release kinetics of antibiotics to enhance antimicrobial efficacy via sustained-release formulation. He is currently working as a postdoctoral scholar at Department of Electronic, Electrical and Automatic Engineering of the Rovira i Virgili University of Tarragona.

Dr. Sachin Mishra received his Ph.D. degree in Biosensors and Bioelectronics from Linköping University, Sweden (2015-19). He had the experience as a Postdoctoral Researcher worked on "Biosensors for SARS-CoV-2 and Alzheimer's disease biomarker detection using graphene-based interfaces" at Kwangwoon University, South Korea (2019-22). His main research interests are the designing & characterization of miniaturized nanoporous domain for the Label-free ultrasensitive detection and real-time biosensing applications. Since 2022 Dr. Mishra is working as an Principal Investigator in the NEPHOS Group, Department of Electronic, Electrical and Automatic Engineering of the Rovira i Virgili University of Tarragona.

Dr. María Del Pilar Montero graduated in Chemistry from Autonomous University of Madrid (2009). High Specialization Master's Degree in Plastics and Rubber from Menendez Pelayo International University (2014). Doctor in Technologies for Nanosystems, Bioengineering, and Energy from Rovira I Virgili University (2020).
Her main research interest is focused in green chemistry field. During her PhD. she developed an innovative scaffold based on nanoporous anodic alumina (NAA) for fabricating a functioning nanostructured solar cell device. In 2021 she obtained the Margaritas Salas grant for doing Postdoctoral Research at the Center for Research, Innovation, and Development of Materials and Nanoelectronic, and Photonic Systems group.

Samir obtained his Bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Alexandria, Egypt in 2013, and subsequently completed his Master's degree in Materials Science at the same institution. He has forged his career path within the realm of photovoltaic research. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. within the NePhOS group, focusing on organic solar cells (OSCs). His research is under the guidance of Professor Lluis Marsal at the Department of Eng. Electrònica, Elèctrica i Automàtica at Rovira i Virgili University in Tarragona, Spain. Samir's primary objective revolves around enhancing the stability of OSCs, a critical milestone required for the commercialization of these cells and the transition from laboratory-scale production to full-scale fabrication.

Tabish Aftab is currently pursuing PhD under the guidance of Prof. Lluis F. Marsal at Department of Electronics, Electrical and Automation Egineering, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Tarragona Spain . He has completed his Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Uttar Pradesh Technical Univresity, India (2013), and Master's degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Miskolc, Hungary (2018). He has continued his research after masters and joined State Key Metal matrix Laboratory at Shanghia Jiao Tong University China where he worked as a Research Assistant for two years, and involved with the project related to the fabrication of sodium-ion batteries from biomass. His current research interest includes synthesis of nanoporous membranes and nanostructures for fabrication of energy storage devices.

Gohar Ijaz Dar obtained his Bachelor degree in Physics form University of Wah, Pakistan, in 2015, and Master's degree in Materials physics and Chemistry from Chinese Academy of Sciences CAS, China in 2020. During his stay in China, he worked on magnetic Nano materials and specified thesis on Image Guided photo thermal therapy of cancer cells. Based on Master project, he had published articles, review articles and book chapters. His Master research was fully funded by highly competitive CAS BELT and Road Scholarship. He is now enrolled in PhD Programme: Technologies for Nanosystems, Bioengineering and Energy in Research group "NePhoS - Nano-electronic and Photonic Systems" under Supervision of Prof. Lluís Francesc Marsal Garví at "UNIVERSITAT ROVIRA I VIRGILI". He is currently working on "Advanced nanostructures for photonic biosensors".
